to the internet website of the historic finca LAS CAÑITAS.

The three buildings which comprise the finca were built in the early 18th century, in the so-called sugar cane period. This explains its name, CAÑITAS – the canes.

If you wish to order a small draught beer on Tenerife, you ask for “una cania por favor!”, which translated means “a small tube please!”, as a synonym for a cane shaped glass.

The original house and the Casa Syndical have been historically preserved while the secondary buildings have become the Casa Azul. The whole finca has been lovingly historically restored and extended by Claudio.

Now one can spend wonderfully peaceful and relaxing or even active holidays while enjoying the stunning views of the sea and the Teide.

About the history of the finca
The finca had great historic importance for the inhabitants of El Tanque.
The so-called Casa Sindical was the meeting place of the sugar cane workers. The first of May celebrations were held here.

Many inhabitants of El Tanque emigrated to America, just as other canary islanders. After many years living in America, the finca in El Tanque was the first thing many canary islanders could see, coming from the sea. A very moving moment for those returning home ...
